A Change Will Do You Good

I’m not so sure.

I mean, I am. Change is good, right? The only thing constant is change, right? Change is part of life, right?

cliche cliche cliche whatever.

The thing is, I’m bad at change. Bad. REALLY bad.

I cancelled my SiriusXM satellite radio subscription the other day. They got rid of my favorite channel, I did some sleuthing and found out that there were better and cheaper options out there anyway, so I cancelled.

More about those options in an upcoming post, because seriously – Siriusly? yuk yuk – nobody needs to pay for cable or satellite anymore.

So this was totally my choice. Totally optional. Totally my decision.

But. I’d been a subscriber since 2004, as the lovely lady on the phone reminded me.

She really was lovely. SiriusXM won’t ask or alert customers about programming changes, and answers their email with irrelevant boilerplate, but they do hire excellent phone reps. Credit where credit is due.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that as I hung up the phone, I was blinking back tears. I was crying over breaking up with a radio. I am not proud of this. I do not think that this is normal behavior. But there it is. I was changing something I’d done for seven years, and even though it wasn’t doing me any harm at all, it was really hard to do.

Am I alone in this weirdness? Do you like change, or do you find it hard too? Why?
