APADIA 21: Eclipse

After watching the eclipse, I understand better how ancient people must have felt when they looked to the sky.

It’s so humbling to look up and see how big reality is, and to see it change in such enormous ways, so far beyond anything we could ever hope to control.

A gut part of me was unnerved to see the sun covered up in the middle of the day. It’s scary to experience something different. It’s scary to find yourself in the dark. And it made me think about that.

We’re afraid of the dark, but sometimes we hide in it.

We are afraid of ambiguity, so sometimes we live in it.

We fear an eclipse coming from above, so sometimes we hide in our own shadows.
