Sunday Roundup: Tumblr Edition

by Sarah Morgan on May 23, 2010

Generally speaking, I don’t like Tumblr (or Tumblr-style) blogs. They’re like the Cheetos of the blog world. Little substance, cheesy appearance, favored by hipsters.

That said, here are three I DO love:

Hot Guys Reading Books Um, yup. It’s that simple.

Shit My Kids Ruined Schadenfreude at its best. It’s visual birth control.

Vending Spree Reviews of every item in an office vending machine. Oddly compelling.

Sunday Roundup: Things in Threes Edition

by Sarah Morgan on May 16, 2010

Things I’m glad I know nothing about: hunting, fishing, social climbing.
Things I wish I knew more about: Western riding, astronomy, gardening.

People I want to be when I grow up: Cate Blanchett, Paula Deen, Judi Dench.
People I kind of want to be but know I couldn’t pull it off: Tilda Swinton, Helen Mirren.

Things I wish I did more: run, stretch, laugh.
Things I wish I did less: distract myself, roll my eyes, wait.

This weekend’s acquisitions: two swords*, a bottle of truffle oil, the words “parvenu” and “scunge”.
This weekend’s music: Todd Thibaud**, Katharine McPhee and Zachary Levi, Slumdog Millionaire.***

*No, not for me. But my purchase history becomes ever more eclectic.
** Thanks to Ann Marie, who found my blog and asked me about him.
***Nothing new, but sometimes you need comfy-jeans music – specially on Sunday afternoons.

Sunday Roundup: One-Liners

by Sarah Morgan on April 18, 2010

Odd stops on my train of thought, not long enough for their own posts. Anything worth riffing on here?

Flash mobs only work because of YouTube, which only works because of Flip cameras.

Corn is probably not meant to come in flake form. In fact, food should probably not come in flakes at all.

Suits have moved from a symbol of status to one of petition – worn by salesmen, interviewees and plaintiffs.

Infants get their parents to bond by using tactics outlawed by the Geneva Convention.

Sunday Roundup: Visual Edition

by Sarah Morgan on March 21, 2010

And now you’ve seen all those pretty things, go outside and use the rest of your senses. Isn’t it amazing how much you forget about spring? I forgot the way grass smells. I forgot that I can hear the church bells from my office when the window is open. I forgot the way a stuffy house feels when you get home and it’s warmer outside than inside. This is why I like living someplace where there are seasons. The remembering.

And a note: if you know me outside of this blog but I don’t know that you read it, please know: that’s okay. I continue to be slightly startled that anyone at all wants to read what I have to write. For you to be here is a favor and an honor.
