Welcome to the end of the year: One top 10 post for each of the last 10 days of 2014.
First up: songs.
I don’t “Care About Music” as deeply as a lot of people do… I like silence… and I’m definitely not a music snob. I love pop mostly, dance often, lots of British artists. So, to start, I loved these two DJ’s mashups of 2014 in pop, and I think you should listen to them, because they’re fun as hell:
And here are my top 10 songs for the year. “Top 10” doesn’t mean I want to hear some of them ever again – they’re not my favorites of the year, necessarily – but they were the year for me. I know they’ll remind me of 2014.
- Let It Go – Idina Menzel
- All of Me – John Legend
- Rather Be – Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne
- Jungle – X Ambassadors
- Clarity – Zedd feat. Foxes
- Stay With Me – Sam Smith
- Trumpets – Jason Derulo
- Turn Down for What – DJ Snake & Lil Jon
- Cool Kids – Echosmith
- Happy – Pharrell
Plus, really, anything Pitbull, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry or Iggy Azalea.
Now, 10 I think we’ll hear of / hear more of in 2015:
- G.R.L.
- Sheppard
- Walk the Moon
- Nico & Vinz
- Mary Lambert
- Aloe Blacc
- Ed Sheeran
- Meghan Trainor
- Ella Henderson
- and the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack
Each of these top 10 posts will end with a question. Here’s the first one:
Who’s on your musical watch list for 2015?
Sheppard, iggy Azalea and nicki manaj. I know nicki manaj does filthy rap now, but she’s super talented. When she grows up, she has potential.
