This week I learned a sentence that explains basically everything in everyone’s life.

We gravitate toward relationships that represent unfinished business in our families of origin.

For instance, if you have problems with one of your parents, you’ve probably found yourself close to someone who has a lot of the same issues that parent had.

Or, if you work through some of your childhood drama so you genuinely aren’t still spun up about it, that might give you the space to realize you have some other stuff to sort through with the other parent, and then find yourself next dating someone who mimics that parent in some likely negative ways.

So, this week’s lessons? The subconscious is a bitch. Progress is a slow road. And business is worth finishing.
