Along with some fairly standard mistaken identities, the most recent debacle in Other Me-ville came when Georgia State University offered free on-campus practice MCAT tests.

Which would be very nice of them, really. If it went according to plan.

Alas, while GSU undergrads

… lots of them…

registered, their registrations

… lots of them…

came to me. Ugh.

Until the lovely Tomica, who I hope does very, very wonderfully on her MCAT, figured out who they should be going to and got Kaplan / Atlanta Other Me to fix the error.

Bless her.

Let’s backtrack for a second, though. Seriously, the really “standard” mistaken identities are the ones that baffle the hell out of me. Just recently, it’s been newsletters from Textfree and Ted Baker and TES, but it happens over and over, all the time. The thing that gets me is, this is not somebody else getting your email address wrong. This is YOU getting your OWN email address wrong. Other Mes, dear, darling Other Mes, how do you not know your OWN EMAIL ADDRESS? Do you go home to other people’s houses, too?

I mean, honestly.

Sarah,
I checked with the Doctor and she said to try taking the Abilify every other day and see if that helps with the anxiety.

The attachment was a prettily designed cake decorating schedule from Designed For You Specialty Cakes & Sugarcraft Training of Worcester, UK. Apparently baking goes with our name. But is “KR” acceptable for “kind regards” now? I’m not sure I like that.

And for serious, always spellcheck your own name.

The attachment she sent over was a PDF bio of Cecil McBee and his jazz band. Yay for hometown recognition.

Subject: Heart Survey with Evaluation & Lesson

As promised, here is the extended analysis of your survey results and an important healing lesson.

You fall into a pretty high category of pain. I understand this is an extremely difficult time, but there is still hope for you to feel better – and soon. Below is a quick summary of your results followed by a custom healing lesson which will start your healing today.

1 – You are suffering from Emptiness.Your mind, body, and heart are basically saying to you, “Hey, what’s the point of any of this without him or her?” The reason it is so painful is that more than loneliness, you are feeling emptiness.

2 – You are experiencing the Reminder Syndrome. You may not be able to get your ex, the break, up and the pain out of your mind for more than a few minutes at a time. There are subconscious triggers of your ex everywhere including songs, smells, objects, and much more.

3 – Negative thoughts – you can’t seem to shake them. Why did this happen (again)? I’m never going to meet anyone. The thought of dating again makes me want to vomit. Don’t worry, you are not alone and there is a simple and powerful method to combat these thoughts.

4 – Loss of a possible soulmate. It seems that you believe that you have lost the person that was the one for you. The one you had been waiting for, the person that made you whole, that made you who you are and wanted to be. I want to tell you that even in this situation, it is possible to heal, to have hope, and to live a vibrant life again.

Ok, so what’s your next step? First, make a pact with yourself to set aside any current thoughts you have about never getting over this pain. Open your mind to the possibility that you can feel better and soon. Agreed?

Love & Light,

Amelie

There was a whole – lengthy – lesson in here that I’m leaving out. Wow. There was a second missive, too, before I got them stopped. Geesh.
