Naval Air Station Kingsville is one of the U.S. Navy’s premier locations for jet aviation training. Located just east of Kingsville, TX, population 25,000, the Naval Air Station’s primary mission is to train tactical jet pilots for the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
My brother’s just been accepted into jets: the most elite aircraft program the Navy has. If you’ve been keeping track: Officer Candidate School in Newport (he rocked it) made him an ensign and he’s been training in API at Pensacola and Primary at Corpus Christi since then.
He’s wanted this his whole life and has worked harder than I can imagine. I am so happy for him that I just might burst (although as it’s all so foreign to me – thank God for Wikipedia – it still seems very big and scary, making for a quasi-hysterical sort of day with a lot of fast laughter-to-tears moments).
That is definitely awesome! You should make sure he has the Top Gun soundtrack on his iPod… and his call sign is not that of a fowl.
