Yet even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, and weeping, and mourning;
Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the LORD, your God. For gracious and merciful is he, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and relenting in punishment.
Perhaps he will again relent and leave behind him a blessing, Offerings and libations for the LORD, your God.

Joel 2:12-14

Every year there’s something for Lent that you don’t do properly. Something you give up that you mistakenly have. A fast you forgot about. Meat you ate on Friday. But, maybe a little more importantly, every year is also the chance to try to move a little bit away from the Stuff of the world and a little closer to God. The chance to open up to Him the way He keeps wanting you to. The chance to… well, the chance to re-Lent.
